I am Really Hurt and Disappointed (Web design scammers)

Today I feel so sad. I have been trying so hard to be good to people and during this horrible economic disaster find ways to help them to get a website and pay for management, advertising and optimization of it. I have devised a way that they pay a very reasonable amount for their website and then only pay me a percentage when they make sales, so that if they are not selling then they are not paying outlandish charges for their website and losing all their profits. I haven't even asked for a deposit. I get pay if they get pay. How much nicer could I be about it?

Yet their are still scammers that tell you they want a website and make the verbal agreement that they will sign a contract stating my terms and send it back to me. I like a fool take them at their word and begin work on their website. I work very quickly and usually within days have the site ready to go online. There may still be things needed from the client such as photos of their breeding stock or babies.
( These are not things I have control over.) Basically I have a completed site waiting for a contract. At this point I ask for payment as well. This is when I usually receive an email saying, " I am sorry but I decided to wait awhile to get a website or something like that.

What can people possibly gain from treating someone with good intentions like this?

Yes, I would say I am having a very bad day!

Dear Colleen & Member's---we do our best for whatever subject---it seem's like there is alway's some one out there that is playing "the Jerk" on us----whatever happened to honesty ? it's still alive !----but then again there are alway's some that figure they can get by with being dishonest & don't give a hoot about the other person----shame-shame on them---what would their Mother's say about their behavior ?? I think you are right. I guess it as silly of me to assume there are many others like me whose parents raised them to be honest and fair. I must tell you that I have two clients that are jewels and I would never give them up. They are very honest and I would trust them with my life. That says an awful lot for those two because there are so many people that are so intentionally evil in this world. I feel very blessed to have two that are angels. I was just hoping to find more of the same. I know I will I just cant be so trusting.

I think you have been given some good advice. We used to rent cottages and got half down and the other half a week before the people came. Otherwise, they would likely change their minds and it would be too late to rent to others.

Wasn't looking for pity and you are right most people do suck. I am actually looking for solutions and made business support groups as a result. BTW you may mean well, but you are very abrasive. how is that for honesty?

I feel bad that you do the work and get scammed afterwards. I got taken for over $1800 a couple of years ago and I know I'll never get it back. My suggestion would be get some kind of deposit and a signed contract before you start any work on a website. If they're scammers you'll never see any $ upfront and you won't get the contract back from them. And if you feel that person scammed you on purpose I wouldn't hesitate to name them, or at least give out their initials. We don't want people like that on a truly friendly site where people love their animals and the other members who share the same feelings.

I just got through writing another blog post yesterday about Networking. I have written dozens over the years. Networking branches into friendships at times.

A friend is someone who really knows you and who you are, and still likes you.

That is what a true friend really is.
There are very few.
You must just come to the realization that most people really suck. Trust me I'm straight forward and tell people this all the time. You want to know what the best part is. They try to prove me wrong, I like that

Political correctness has gotten us into this mess. You can't tell people the truth because you may offend them.

Well if I built a website and asked what any of your thoughts were. There is a slight possibility I may get 1 out of 50 people that would tell me that it sucked.

It is the Not Being Honest in fear that you will hurt someone’s feelings that made us so passive and excepting of what is wrong and lying. Trust me I could go on for ever on this subject.

I did actually do an experiment and built a real crappy site once, I had people go and leave comments about what they thought. The majority of people loved it, I did have 5 people tell me about broken links that was cool but over 100 responded.
So trust me I know what I'm talking about when I say People suck.
LOL let them prove you wrong.

You can stand up for yourself today and contact them with a little footnote that if they don’t at least have the curtsy to communicate you would assume that their e-mail was no longer valid. This would leave you no choice but to publishing their name publicly as you were in search of their whereabouts, Simple as that.

If you made this post looking for solutions that is great, If you made this post looking for pity I am the wrong person for that. We lost 50K this year because of the federal government. That is a smack for us.

I agree with the down payment idea... and a written contract or email. Keep a positive outlook and you will attract like-minded people. Determine how you want to do business and stick to it.
