Hey Ruth, Sounds like possible allergies to me. Could be she needs essential fatty acid suppliements too. Try changing their diet, eliminating at least wheat (all grains would be great to eliminate) as a start and see if that makes a difference. Many cats, as well as people, are allergic to some of the chemicals, like phymeldehyde, in our personal care and cleaning products. Look for quaternium in the ingredients or a derivitive - that's phymeldehyde. Switch to green products. I don't trust green by the major manufacturers who've been poisoning us for years - look for a company that has been green since they started. 7th Generation, Shaklee & Melaleuca come to mind. - or you can make your own. Can't make laundry detergent.

I have a lovely Manx tuxedo short haired cat. She is a very lovely little girl but her hair mats even though it is very short and I brush her a lot. Her eyes 'weep' a lot too. My little exotic has the same problem with her eyes. Do any of you have any advice for me? Are they lacking something in their diets?

Just a comment - I make my dog treats - most treats unless they're from good dog botiques, are garbage, full of sugar, chemicals, grains. I boil liver, cut it up in small pieces and dehydrate them. I'm not big on giving a lot of treats, mostly when she comes in or when she's really really in the mood. Never met a dog that didn't like them. Due to their high protien content too much wouldn't be good anyway. And, because the liver contains a lot of the toxins filtered out of the cows, they're not that good - but better than commercial. I aspire to organic beef liver, but feed commercial til then. And, if your talking toxins, watch for my blog on same coming soon!
